INTRODUCING THE YOUTH CAMPS

These annual Youth Camps are for young people aged 13-18, particularly — though not exclusively — from churches in New Zealand that are Baptistic and Reformed. Oversight is provided by Fred Schaumkel, Aaron Falconer (Elders at Shore Baptist Church in Auckland) and Dafydd Hughes (the Pastor of Crosspoint Church, Palmerston North) on behalf of the Fellowship of Reformed Baptist Churches in New Zealand.

ACTIVITIES

The camps provide a full programme of indoor and outdoor activities together with meetings for Bible teaching and discussion.

A number of activities are planned, such as kayaking and sailing, swimming, cimbing wall & abseiling, archery and a confidence course, and other activities which will include more leisurely indoor and outdoor games.

There will also be ample time at camp just to sit around, chat, play board-games and enjoy other informal activities.

All activities will be overseen by experienced and/or qualified leaders as appropriate.

LOCATION

We will return to a unique location: Camp Bentzon on Kawau Island in the Hauraki Gulf. The site has proven very popular over the years and has become our regular venue.

The grounds consist of an open area bounded by the camp buildings, native bush and North Cove. A dining hall provides space for indoor activities as well as meals, as does the meeting room, while sleeping accommodation is in bunkrooms.

Transport to the Island is by ferry from Sandspit Wharf and a bus will be chartered to take campers from Auckland to the ferry. If you need help getting to Auckland please contact us as there may be others traveling from your area with whom we can put you in touch.

REGISTRATION

Online registratons are now open. Please click here to register. The fees are as follows:

$270 for one family member only
$265 each for two family members
$260 each for three or more family members

The registration fee includes travel from Auckland to Kawau Island, accommodation, food and activities. Payment may be made by direct credit or credit card. A parent/guardian must complete the registration form and agree to an Activities Consent Form included in the registration process; they must also ensure that the campers they are registering have seen and agree to the Camp Rules.

There is an early-bird discount of $10 per camper for all registrations received AND PAID by Friday 6th March 2026. Registrations will close on 21st March 2026 or earlier if the camp reaches capacity.

TEACHING

Ian Goodman will be returning as our speaker at YC2026. He will be responsible for the main talks each day as well as discussion groups which are aimed at helping the young people to think seriously about the relevance of Christianity. This year’s theme will be the Ten Commandments.

Ian has been the Pastor at South City Reformed Baptist Church in Auckland since 2021, having previously served as a Pastor in Timaru. He is married to Angelene and they have four children. Ian loves the outdoors, especially hunting.
